Spanning 14 days through the remote wilderness of Arunachal Pradesh, this expedition combines thrilling white-water rafting with cultural immersion and exploration of pristine tropical rainforests.

Expedition Overview

The Brahmaputra River, originating from the Angsi Glacier in Tibet and flowing through Arunachal Pradesh, offers one of the most challenging rafting experiences in the world. This 14-day expedition takes you through remote gorges, tropical rainforests, and tribal villages, navigating some of the most technical rapids on the planet.

Expedition Route

The journey begins at Tuting in Upper Siang district and concludes at Pasighat, covering approximately 180 km of river distance. The expedition passes through the famous Ninguing and Marmong gorges, considered among the most remote and impenetrable tropical rainforest gorges in the world.

Famous Rapids of Brahmaputra

Pango Rapid

Class VI rapid marking the entrance to Ninguing and Marmong gorges. Requires careful navigation and portaging.

Cherring Rapid

Also known as "Tooth Fairy" rapid. A massive Class VI rapid that needs to be portaged around.

Moying Madness

One of the biggest rapids on the Brahmaputra. A challenging Class V rapid with huge waves and strong currents.

Pulsating Palsi

Class III rapid with continuous exciting waves. A great warm-up rapid early in the expedition.

Karko Killer

Technical rapid requiring precise maneuvering through rocky sections and strong currents.

Ponging Rapid

The final big rapid of the expedition. A thrilling Class IV rapid to end the journey.

14-Day Expedition Itinerary

Days 1-2: Delhi to Tuting

Day 1: Fly Delhi to Dibrugarh, check into hotel. Relax and prepare for the expedition.
Day 2: Ferry from Dibrugarh to Pasighat, then drive through tropical rainforests to Tuting. Setup camp and safety briefing.

Days 3-4: Tuting Acclimatization

Day 3: Drive through tropical rainforests and Adi villages. Reach Tuting and setup expedition camp.
Day 4: Rest day for acclimatization. Hike to nearby villages, safety briefings, and gear preparation.

Days 5-6: Tuting to Pango

Day 5: Navigate Ninguing Rapid (Class IV) and Pulsating Palsi (Class III). Camp at Pango before the major rapid.
Day 6: Enter Ninguing and Marmong gorges. Navigate Rikor and Zebra rock rapids. Camp before Cherring rapid.

Days 7-8: Pango to Alubadi

Day 7: Portage the massive Pango rapid and continue through the gorges. Camp at Cherring after portaging.
Day 8: Paddle out of Marmong gorge through exciting rapids. Float section to camp at Alubadi.

Days 9-10: Alubadi to Geku

Day 9: Navigate Moying Madness rapid and cross Nubo suspension bridge. Camp at beautiful Geku site.
Day 10: Relaxed day at Geku. Optional short rafting or village exploration.

Days 11-12: Geku to Rotung

Day 11: Raft to Rotung through float sections and Adi settlements. Visit natural fresh water spring.
Day 12: Relaxed morning at Rotung. Raft from Rotung to Pasighat with final rapid at Ponging.

Days 13-14: Return Journey

Day 13: Early morning ferry from Pasighat to Dibrugarh. Overnight at hotel.
Day 14: Board flight from Dibrugarh to Delhi. Expedition concludes with unforgettable memories.
